August Update

August was a good month for the home build.  We have counter tops installed, HVAC is up and working, nice working in a cool house!  ALLOT of interior painting by Regina, son Stewart and myself with help from grandson Aidan.  Electricians have started topping out and we have some lights.  A special shout out to my SWBT friends (Susan, Art, Patty and Renee) in Houston who I got to see on recent trip home

Counter tops arrived from fabricator.  We chose soapstone which is relatively unknown out here, but quite popular on the east coast / New England area.

Installed.  You don't have to seal soapstone like you do granite, you just oil it and it turns a dark gray and shows the graining nicely.

One counter in the kitchen gets some maple butcher block

Had a nice harvest of watermelons

HVAC getting turned up.  Putting in a 5 Ton SEER 16 variable speed blower with two stage compressor.  This is the largest size residential unit you can put in and if we hadn't foam insulated the underside of the roof deck, we would have needed two units to handle this home.

Kitchen painted a nice yellow

Aidan lost one of his front teeth while here a couple of weeks ago

I changed one of the many drawers in the island to a door with electrical receptacle behind it !

Maddy, my dinner partner enjoying the view

I decided to build my own fireplace surround which will be painted our trim color.. kind of ice cream white.

Carriage lights on the garage

Some company "dropped in last Saturday to see out progress - shout out to Veronica and Patty

Things were getting a bit hectic at the Houston home with Erin, Michael and family moving in once they sold their home so I decided to bring the Porsche up early to make room in the garage there.

This week the shower / tile installer will be here and the electricians should be finishing up.  More pics soon.
